you also need to run more than one fixture at a time, probably wise to monitor gas pressure at unit too, if it ramps up to max and gas is low, it will lack output, same as too high flow rates….
recirc pump/s needed if it's more than 10' away with over 1/2" feeder…. on demand ones work OK, either manual button push or flow sense… they break like everything else =p
120F supposed exiting… I trust them not, but anyway, loss of temp in piping and flow volume beyond what it;ls rated at = cool.cold water. probably someone trying to shower/laundry/dishes/sinks/etc at same time. no go! more so if gas feed is undersized/choked or aerators and flow limiters removed
I use an 8 OZ glass and plop two thermometors into it (digital and old school mercury!) oh yeah, let it run for 10 minutes and watch/record. A. you get the best reading, B. you cover your bum =p

This is a more complex issue than it first appears. For prevention of legionnaires disease from water borne bacteria called Legionella pneumophila lots of health and safety guidelines for household hot water temperature, suggest the temp of the hot water should be higher, but at this temp (138 F) people can scald themselves if they're not careful. But when you lower the thermostat on the water heater for 'safety' you might invite conditions that support the growth of Legionella sp. So it's a fine balance between the two.
U just got a new sub which is me
People always in a hurry for their hot water….geeesh……
I have customers who want to peel skin off their bodies, they want the water so damn hot. You always have 1 in the household who wants this.

get a recktal stick in your end see hown warm it is
That is my issue with on demand water heaters they take a while to get to fixture and homeowner or tenant don't understand it. If you put a recirc line on you defeat the purpose of it now it is running way more then it needs to so there's no happy medium I will stick with tanked water heaters !!!
Have to do that in jail 2x a year and document. Low bid building so trying to get 5 showers and 15 sinks in spec can be fun, especially in winter months. Thanks for video Chuck!
