As a master plumber in Colorado and Washington I stand by this video. Thank you for giving folks this info.
When you are carrying away shit in a drain, every sharp bend is one more area where there is going to be something left behind, leading up to a blocked drain eventually. At a sharp 'T', half the crap will go one way and the other half the other way. The crap that went upstream will just sit there, forming a PLUG because there is no water behind it to force it to move down the pipe. That is why there needs to be a 45-degree bend (or a combo wye + bend) in that fitting (not a 90-degree bend), so that the water and shit will keep moving along in the correct direction = downstream, not upstream.
Must not be real plumbers that make this mistake
Heck with 90's use all wye and 1/8 bends with a fitting clean out on back when there's room in your own home the future accessibility is great
Don't let the poo go backwards- got it!
Former Montana state plumbing inspector, it would be nice to see more videos like this. So many homeowners wanting to do their own work get it wrong and wind up spending three to four times the cost. And when in doubt, call your local inspector. They are more than happy to come out and look and it WON'T COST A DIME! Better to be safe than have a real mess in the end.
My former project mismanager tried to tell me you could use a tee like that, and somehow, he has a journeyman’s license in MD.
Thank u for the video u made it very simple to figure out what to use in this application
It seems a typical problem made by all trades, working to code, code is instituted as the minimal accepted, such as electrical says use 14ga. For a particular application, you could use 12ga.,more expensive, but not 16ga. Less expensive, less expensive is appealing to many, rarely does one get to do a job in what they would consider the best way, these gentle sweep transitions would probably be better used in most applications instead of only where they must be, this would probably only happen in a home being built for a plumber.
Wow are you allowed to diy plumbing ok n America I can't believe it that is extremely illegal in Australia and that's a good thing 5000$ fine if you get caught here obviously our standards are way higher
I've worked in both UPC and IPC areas. I always preferred the UPC due to its higher standard (fewer allowances.)
How do you know? Common sense
I had this told to me soooo many times
What it’s not gonna work? Lmao
Hammerpedia, Why does my toilet only flush every other time? The tank fills up every time and is not leaking but the bowl only empties every other time that it is flushed.
I’ll make sure to print this out and put it in my tool box so that when I do need it it’ll look like garbage and I will have thrown it out months ago.
It has nothing to do with how smooth it is…..the San tee does not have enough directional flow…..the proper fitting is a combination, your correct there….master plumber m-42419

Not all Codes. I'd suggest reading The National Standard Plumbing Code (IAPMO) 2.3.1a 2 Short radius fittings may be used in the drain piping of an individual fixture.
Thank u vry mch
This is common sense really.
My long snake turds require long sweeps.
Hey tx alot…I'm getting ready to plumb my new cabin I building. Got this info just in time…tx again
when I do plumbing, I dont use anything EXCEPT for sanitary tees. No straight pipe, no elbows, just sanitary tees back to back to back
Hey do you know why turds have tapered ends? …..so your asshole doesn't slam shut every time one come out.
